For many years GreenCon has provided sponsorship to the Cobden Cricket Club. And like any club, they’ve had their share of ups and downs: some low points, but also tonnes of highlights.

This year, we think they can rightly add one more item to their highlight’s reel. Because, for the first time, the club fielded teams – Cobden Gold, and Cobden Blue – in the inaugural South West Cricket Association’s Senior Women’s competition across the 2024/25 season.

The game is played to a modified 20-20 format: 9-a-side, with fielding and batting innovations that encourage stroke play and offer greater reward if a batter finds the gaps in the field.

Additionally, a GreenCon staff member helps umpire the games and, if his feedback is any guide the way the games are being played and the format they’re played to sounds exceptional.

This season, to provide the cheery on the top one of the Cobden sides – Cobden Blue – has bagged a berth in the inaugural SWCA Snr. Women’s Grand Final!

GreenCon wishes every participant the absolute best of luck. We are extremely proud to be able to offer a little bit of support to this side of the sport.

It is so good seeing the girls and women taking the field to give cricket a crack. Not only are they having a go, they are loving giving it a go.

And we could not be happier!

So, to all the players who are taking part – both from Cobden and their Bookaar opponents – good luck to everyone involved.
