GreenCon is proud to have led the design and construction of the redeveloped netball facilities at Cobden Recreation Reserve – an ambitious project that helped transform a much-loved local sporting hub into a benchmark for regional infrastructure.
Delivered in partnership with the Cobden Recreation Reserve Committee of Management, the Cobden Football Netball Club (CFNC) and the Corangamite Shire Council, the project comprised two new full-size netball courts built to Netball Victoria standards. The scope included full-depth reconstruction of the playing surface – subgrade reshaping, crushed rock layering, engineered slab pours – and a multi-coat acrylic system for durability, player safety and performance.
Construction included hardscape tie-ins and upgraded drainage, and electrical infrastructure for competition-grade LED lighting towers. In addition spectator, player and scorer shelters were constructed that have proven to provide exceptional protection from prevailing weather – wind, in particular – which have become a hallmark of the development.
Completed in early 2022, the project delivered substantial benefits for the CFNC and the broader Cobden community, supporting over 220 netball players across junior and senior levels and drawing regular use from local schools and community groups.
On 2 April 2022, the facility was officially named the Ellen Darcy Courts, in honour of a local netball legend whose legacy lives on in every match played there.
This project is a testament to what can be achieved when strong design, local collaboration and quality delivery come together.
GreenCon is proud to have been at the heart of it.
