Project description
Beach Energy is a major energy supplier which operates the Otway Gas Plant in Waarre, SouthWest Victoria.
GreenCon is a pre-qualified contractor to Beach Energy, supplying concreting and construction services on an as-needs basis. It is essential for any supplier to pre-qualify, given the incredibly high-risk environment of the plant. This is also a long and challenging process, which requires compliance with a multitude of conditions.
On this project, GreenCon was engaged to construct large foundations for the installation of a new Mercury Removal Unit (MRU). This was a complicated project, requiring extremely cautious excavation as there were underground services surrounding the excavation area. We experienced continuous issues with water ingress and soil instability.
We delivered in constructing the MRU Vessel Foundation, the Molecular Sieve Foundation, Equipment Area Slab, and Multiple Pipe support foundations within tolerance, schedule and budget.
