Simpson brothers Robert and Alex Robertson had been milking in their 44-bail dairy since 2003. But when milking a herd that had grown to 1200 stretched to 10 hours a day, they recognised the need to reduce the time they were spending milking and add more flexibility into their days.

So, in 2022 they engaged GreenCon to design and construct a new 80-bail rotary, including dairy yards, a drain ring on the outside of the platform, drafting yard, cow pens and a silo slab.

Features:

• 48m * 35m steel-framed shed, 5m high at its eave. A (nominal) 5m wide walkway circles the dairy’s platform, and a 1.2m wide concrete path wraps around the entirety of the shed’s exterior.
• All structural steel – columns and trusses – are hot-dipped galvanised, the walls clad in Colorbond and the roof clad with Zincalume.
• 360 sq/m concrete silo base.
• Yarding to suit 800 cows.
• Floodwash tanks, outlets and air-fittings.
