We have had an exciting role come about, for a Civil Construction Project Manager. While the ideal candidate will bring a background of delivering civil work, this role could also be undertaken by a suitably capable individual seeking to advance into a management function.
We are a family owned and operated civil construction company, who’ve been serving clients across southwestern Victoria (and, beyond) since 1964. Over that time we have crafted a solid reputation for the design and delivery of agricultural projects – and dairies (including robotic dairies) in particular. We also have a healthy pipeline of work in the commercial and local government sectors; we provide sub-contracted services to residential builders and continue our quarter-century long relationship with Victoria’s three westernmost gas plants located nearby, on Victoria’s shipwreck coast.
Cobden, the town we call home, is often referred to as The Dairy Capital of the World. It’s a phrase that Cobden locals know reflects the countryside’s incredibly rich farming land, and the fact Cobden’s the home of Western Star Butter – an iconic 98 year old Australian brand. Part of the Corangamite Shire’s Volcanic Lakes and Plains tourism region, Cobden’s less than a 15-minute drive south of Camperdown; 1 hour 40 minutes west of Geelong; 45 minutes east of Warrnambool; 30 minutes north of the Great Ocean Road and only 40 minutes to the world famous Twelve Apostles.
The role will oversee projects across a broad geographical area. While most activity occurs within the Moyne, Warrnambool, Corangamite, and Colac Otway municipalities we also work in the Glenelg, Southern Grampians and Ararat regions. (And even further afield. We’re currently reviewing work opportunities in northern Victoria, South Australia, NSW and southern Queensland.)
The successful candidate will be a Project Manager accountable for delivering a wide array of projects working with a range of clients and client representatives. You will need to be comfortable leading conversations with clientele from diverse backgrounds and skill sets. For instance, you may find yourself discussing a dairy project with a farmer one day, talking with a gas plant operator the next and then a council’s Lead Engineer the day after that.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be concurrently accountable for several active projects, while planning and getting the groundwork done for upcoming projects. You’ll be expected to make sound, timely, independent decisions working as part of a team of skilled and like-minded professionals.
In addition to GreenCon’s Cobden headquarters we recently cut the ribbon on a new secondary office and construction outlet in Warrnambool. So, the PM may find themselves working from that office from time-to-time.
And it goes without saying – you’ll need to be willing and able to travel. Maybe not too far on any given day, but getting to almost every project will need you to drive to get there.
Also – and this is important – we maintain an exceptionally strong family and community orientation, and are laser-focused on providing expert contracting services. So whoever the successful candidate ends up being, they’ll need to be enthusiastic about becoming a part of that.
