Towards the backend of 2023 we finished construction on a robotic dairy on a 113-hectare farm located about 20 minutes from Echuca, on the Victorian/NSW border.
The dairy joins the fleet of 38,000 Automatic Milking Systems (AMS) installed on farms across the globe.
In this case the client opted for five Lely Astronaut A5 robots – with room for an additional robot should they wish to increase future milking capacity – plus three Cosmix Concentate feeders. The feeders provide a meal that’s uniquely tailored to those cows who could do with a little extra after milking, to help with their rumen health and optimise milk yields.
All up the consultation, design, planning, construction, and commissioning of the dairy took just over two years.
The cows were introduced to the robots in early December and, from all accounts things are going great!
The herd quickly adapted to the automatic milking system and, now the AMS is taking care of that side of the business the client is looking forward to using their time to tackle other projects around their farm.
By the sounds of things both they, and their herd, couldn’t be happier!
